Joe Salzano

Music and Program Director

Joe Salzano is Music and Program Director of WORTHY and arranger of its musical score.

In January 2000, he received Jesus Christ in an upstate N.Y. rehab and was set free from lifelong addiction to alcohol and drugs. His life has been driven by a desire to love and exalt Christ through worship, service and sharing the love of God with others.

Salzano has been a professional musician and composer for nearly 50 years. He has studied with Donald Hunsberger (conducting), Joe Romano, Sonny Stitt (Jazz sax), Chuck Mangione, Bill Reichenbach (composition). He has performed with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, The Temptations, Sammy Davis Jr. and most recently performed and recorded with bassist John Patitucci. As bandleader, he has led widely acclaimed Swing big bands and Jazz combos since 1978 and has recorded four albums under his own name. As composer/arranger, Salzano has written for orchestra, big band, choir and chamber ensembles extensively.

Joe Salzano is a member of the Cornell University Music Department teaching faculty. In 2012, the Lord opened a door at Cornell for Joe to offer a weekly Christ-centered ‘Worship Workshop’ devoted to raising up, training, and releasing worshipers.

In 2013, Joe began producing the annual ‘Worthy’ concerts featuring full orchestra, choir and worship band bringing together student and area believers of all denominations to declare the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Salzano has worked with notable Christian artists such as: Steve Swanson, John Patitucci, Dr. William Edgar, Caleb Quaye, Don Potter, Martin Smith, Ruth Naomi Floyd, JoAnn McFatter, and Julie Meyer.

His passion is to see people connect with their purpose and destiny in Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Robin Yin

Director of Personnel

Robin Ying is the Director of Personnel a.k.a the “people and data person” for WORTHY 2020.

In 2010 he came to Cornell as a Music & Engineering double major as a participant in the CU Wind Ensemble, CSO, and Chinese Music Ensemble. In his sophomore year, he found that while he enjoyed music, “studying” it made it more difficult to enjoy. He dropped the Music major to a music minor and continued to perform with CU Wind Ensemble and CSO during his undergrad.

In 2014 Robin began his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell and got to continue participating in WORTHY as the timpanist for a many years.

Robin also works with Cornell Asian American InterVarsity and is passionate about preparing students for life-long discipleship and serves as a member of the teaching team and elderboard at Vineyard Church of Ithaca.

Synclair Gonzalez

Director of Digital Marketing

Synclair is the Director of Digital Marketing for WORTHY 2020 a.k.a. the web designer and logistical manager of the website and social media.

She came to Cornell in 2016 to begin her study of communication and later added Spanish to her studies. She was radically changed and surrendered her life to Christ the summer before college started and was given a Holy Bible by a friend just a week before departing for Cornell. She decided to become baptized in December 2016.

Synclair began helping with WORTHY during her freshman year and used to be the Director of Promotions as well as a member of the choir.

On campus, Synclair is involved as a Bible course instructor through Christian Union and is also on Cornell’s cheerleading team. This year Synclair will also be a lead singer for WORTHY 2020.

Susan Marshall-Zanovitch

Choir Director

Susan has immersed herself in music for her entire life. After graduating from Houghton College as a flute major, Susan has continued her musical journey with continued lessons in flute, piano and voice. Susan has been involved in worship in the church setting since she was little, and has written numerous songs. She has teamed up with Joe Salzano to be a part of Worship Workshop at Cornell University, as well as participated in all the Worthy concerts. Susan takes great joy in being a part of student’s lives, knowing she is encouraging students to run after God’s heart, and is impacting the next generation of worship leaders.

Susan’s hope and prayer is that this WORTHY event will bring a deeper revelation of who God is and his plan in your life — leading you to experience the fullness of what He has for you (John 10:10b).
